Some of you would have seen how the ruffles trend dominated runways this season; it is most definitely a trend to try. We’ve seen how they have taken over almost everything – decorating necklines, skirts, blouses, pants and even jackets. Ruffles are versatile as they can be worn both at the office, and outside of the office. They can instantly transform a simple day look, to a dramatic evening look.
For the office, my intension is to always keep it chic and minimal. It is for this reason that I have opted for subtle ruffles, as opposed to a more dramatic look.

Ruffles act as their own accessory, therefore when putting together this look; I decided to keep the bottoms simple. Coupled with this, the shirt has an added feature – bell sleeves. The bell sleeves add to the drama of the shirt, which creates that “look at me” effect.
My big hair also commands some attention; also one of the reasons I opted to keep the bottoms minimal. I paired my off-white ruffled shirt with a leather-look pencil Skirt, in soft beige. I love this colour palette – it’s refreshing and easy to wear to the office. I love ruffles because:
– They are timeless. I have had this shirt for 9 years, yet it still looks fresh and relevant.
– They are playful with a touch of femininity.
– They serve as versatile pieces that can be worn with almost anything – a pair of jeans, a pencil skirt, and even formal pants.
A well-placed ruffle can serve as a statement piece, and thus taka away the need to carry dramatic accessories.
Whether you opt for bold or minimal ruffle pieces, there is a ruffled look for every occasion and for everyone!
I hope you love this look as much as I do. Please leave your comments below and share how you would style your ruffles.
As always, I look forward to reading your comments.
